On Yer Bike
We are working with local groups, voluntary organisations and social enterprises to develop a number of cycling related
workshops at the HUB. This is a new project to engage with and develop training and personal development skills. We have
consulted with the local community, schools from the District, local groups such Tibshelf Civic Society, Ethos Upcycling,
Brampton Cyclery, Derbyshire County Council transport unit, Bolsover Wellness, local history group and Centre volunteers,
to how we can offer simple but effective use of the space in the buildings alongside the main HUB that will engage people in
enjoying the outdoors and using open spaces, trails and bridleways as a means of health and well being.
The events will be cycling maintenance, bike breakfasts, cycling skills, balance bike skills, escorted events to build
confidence levels etc. The project will cover 12 months. We shall use current contacts and their networks to publicise
events as well as local facilities such as notice boards, libraries, community centres, newsletters, local NHS/ GP clinics,
youth clubs, social media sites etc. The volunteers will act as Ambassadors to promote the project and help also recruit
others. Our end legacy is to have 3 volunteers to run workshops beyond the 12 months period.
By generating small practical projects such as these this will enable the project to start small and will show that small
measures can improve the environment, health and change attitudes. Feedback generated from the events will be sought
to help develop future activities/ extend the project and generate new and additional volunteers.
